Junior cricket is for girls and boys in school years 2-8. Grades align to school year, eg. children in Year 3 at school (at the beginning of the cricket season) will play Grade 3 junior cricket for the season.

Children in Year 1 and below begin with First Hits, a fun family focused introduction to cricket.

Girls can choose to play in mixed grades or in a girls’ only team (from Y5), or in both formats. More information on girls’ cricket here.

Across all grades there is a strong emphasis on player enjoyment, and rules are structured to provide every player an equal opportunity (all children bat and bowl for designated periods).

Games are played on Saturday mornings and the duration varies by grade, starting at around 60 minutes for the earlier grades. Children in Grades 4 and below play using a soft ball and a hard ball is introduced at Grade 5.

Registrations for 2023 – 2024 have now closed.    Please contact the Grade Co-ordinators for more information or to discuss late registrations.

First games for the 2023/24 season are scheduled for Saturday 11 November.

Practice times and locations are decided by the coach of each team.
