Girls' Cricket
Whether your daughter is completely new to cricket or already has some experience, BJCC has a girls-only cricket option to suit every stage of her journey. Our focus is on having fun, building confidence, making friends, and developing skills in a supportive environment.
Girls Softball Cricket
Under 10 and Under 13
Perfect for beginners or younger players who are learning the game for the first time.
- Played on Sunday mornings
- Games last around 1 to 1.5 hours
- Played in a fun pairs format, with each pair batting for four overs
- Every player gets the opportunity to bat, bowl, and wicket keep, ensuring everyone is involved throughout the game
This format is designed to maximise participation, help girls learn all aspects of cricket, and most importantly, have fun.
Girls Hardball Cricket (Years 5 to 9)
Ideal for girls who are ready to take the next step into hardball cricket or who are building confidence with the hardball game.
- Played on Saturday afternoons
- Games last approximately 3 to 3.5 hours
- Eight-a-side teams playing a mix of 16-over pairs cricket and T20 matches
- Players wear full protective equipment, and basic hardball skills, including bowling with a straight arm, are recommended
This development grade provides a supportive environment where girls can continue to improve their skills, gain confidence, and enjoy playing alongside other girls.
If you're unsure which grade is the best fit for your daughter, we're more than happy to help. Whether she's never picked up a bat before or is ready for a new challenge, we'd love to welcome her to BJCC this season.
News from Wellington Cricket | Womens' and Girls' Cricket
With the summer and cricket season fast approaching, we would like to give you an update on plans for Women and Girls cricket this season.
Our aim is to ensure all our players have access to cricket, at a level they want to play, in the right age group and that they are having fun and enjoying their team and game. We also want to ensure access to coaching and facilities.
We are achieving this through a partnership between Brooklyn, Eastern Suburbs, Victoria University, Karori and Wellington Indoor Sports Clubs (WIS) so we can enter combined teams of Youth and Senior players into this years cricket season.
