A fun filled tournament with some impressive cricketing moments summarised the year 4/5 team’s time in the Bay.

A win over Upper Hutt in the first game after Brooklyn posted a strong 176. Great knocks by Jay  30* and Alfie 25*, with Billy  pitching in a cameo of 27* off 11. Brooklyn bowled and fielded well to reduce Upper Hutt to 100, with good spells by Ianto 3-10 and Blake 2-8 off 3.

Next morning Brooklyn carried on their winning ways chasing down 134 against Napier Tech. Tight bowling by Alfie 2-3 off 3 and Caden 3-4 off 3 meant Tech never really got going in their innings. Tech bowled very well and it wasn’t till Jay & Billy reached retirement again that allowed Brooklyn back in the game. Alfie’s sensational 28 off 18 got the team home with an over to spare in a nail biting game for all on the sideline.

Brooklyn ran out of of steam for their third game against a well-oiled Ngahinapouri, mustering a total of 84. Oles’ 21 & Jay 19* added a 36 last wicket partnership to save face which allowed the boys to have something to bowl to. Ngahinapouri got to the total 6 down after some good bowling. Ianto was in the wickets again with 2-8 off his 3.

Finally the Brooklyn lads had their last game against Havelock North. A very competitive total of 184 was put on after Brooklyn was asked to bat first . Strong batting contributions again by Jay 40* Alfie 31* and Billy 37*. A very exciting game swung in both directions throughout. Havelock chased down the total 9 down and cricket was indeed the winner. Some positive bowling again, Ethan 2-25 off 3, Etienne 2-12 off 3 & Jay producing a stunning 3 wicket maiden finishing with 3-6 off 3.

An exciting tourney by the year 4/5s and awesome to see so many enjoying their first trip to the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Camps. Thanks to Craig and his team for another outstanding event.
